If you don't know what a zipper merge is or how to do it, please look it up, or just read the damn signs. Yes, it's okay to drive in the passing lane. No, you don't need to merge 2 miles early.

It does? I'm on this sub a fair amount and haven't really seen it come up much. The "plan my itinerary" posts are probably the single most common post.
It is probably #3 behind those and the worst phone camera shots taken from moving cars you ever see
I just did a search for the word "merge", and there have been 5 posts in the last 30 days about merging, mine included. I then searched using the term "trip" and counted everyone asking for advice in the last month. I counted 22 before I got tired of scrolling.
Yeah don't you think that's quite a lot of posts about zipper merging? These have been going on since the start of that merge.
One every 6 days on average doesn't seem too crazy to me. Like I said, they were infrequent enough for me to not see them. I wouldn't have posted if I'd seen lots of other people do so, I promise I'm not trying to annoy people! It's just frustrating for those of us who drive that stretch 5 days a week.

Is route 2 through Richmond any better yet? I got stuck in some crazy traffic going that way in the summer.

Good to know!
The real secret is Duxbury Rd on the other side of the river.
This afternoon, there was some nut in a huge truck straddling both lanes keeping people from using the left lane to zipper merge. It was pretty wild.
Don't you have to merge in order to be in the passing lane?

This gets posted here almost as often as "i will be vitiating your state and i need you to plan my itinerary"
