I would let them figure it out. Your heart might be in the right place but it feels a little controlly!

I would advise against this. it could be seen as you checking in on him. Maybe I am wrong, just my two cents

Thanks but I already spoke with the best man about it and it’s all good. Just trying to do something nice because his party are all on a budget. I don’t even care if he knows I bought it…I just want it to be a special weekend for him.

Vermont has some strict and seemingly odd liquor laws. You could probably find someone to do a wine/beer/spirits tasting but you’d have to set it up well ahead of time because they might need a separate liquor license. Could be fun!

It's funny you say that, because I spent over a decade in MA before moving back here, and they're waaay stricter than VT! I was blown away when I moved back at being able to buy beer and wine in grocery stores.

I grew up in Michigan and we could buy hard liquor in the grocery store there. No big thing to get a loaf of bread and a fifth of Bacardi all I’m the same transaction.

A tasting is a really good idea! Don’t know why I didn’t think of it. Thank you!

I'd hire them a bartender for an afternoon and have an in-home tasting of Vermont craft beers and/or distilled liquors.

Rent them the tiki boat at high country marina? They can cruise around the lake and nurse their hangovers.

Kinda agree with the other poster tho

I was trying to find something like this but this never came up in search! Thank you.

I’m not really getting involved, his best man is my brother and he’s struggling to coordinate much with the tight budget his friends are on (my brother is paying for everyone’s round of golf for example.) This isn’t supposed to be like a gift from me necessarily though I can see how my original question makes it seem like it is. I’m just trying to contribute quietly to something fun his friends wouldn’t / aren’t willing to pay for. Appreciate the tip though.

Every person I’ve brought out on the lake talks about it for years so it’ll be a memorable experience for sure. Congrats on the wedding

Metcalfe’s distillery would be a good choice to visit. Vermontdistillers.com

I’m a personal chef in the Brattleboro area with an extensive bourbon collection, if I can be of any help.
