So my mother recently got evicted from her apartment and she gave me some of her furniture from it. It's taking up a lot of space so is there any ways I can get rid of my old furniture to properly place the new furniture my mom gave me into my place?

Any wooden furniture?

Post it for sale for cheap on fb marketplace. It’s bound to sell. Old mattresses are taken at the dump for a fee.

I do have a small wooden kitchen table and a chair to go with it.

Wouldn't recommend sitting in the chair though. It's way too fragile.

If you have trash service, request a second container for a few dollars a month. If the old stuff isn't worth anything to anyone, tear it apart and put in the trash bin over 5-6 weeks. We got rid of three old busted couches that way. They are mostly air when torn apart.

Did you use a chain saw or something? I’m having a similar issue and was goin to just shell out a hundred for bulk pick up.

Not at all. Once the cushions are removed and then rip open the fabric and remove all the stuffing, it's mostly air. Had some metal wire supports and the standard wood framing. Used a small hand saw to break out some of the larger pieces, otherwise just gloves and boots and stomp and pull all the wood pieces apart. At the end of it all, basically had some 3-4 foot sticks.

As long as you have a spot to break it down, and can do it over 4-6 weeks, it is quite easy. Each weekend I would tear some apart and fill the container.

I’m going to start trying that tomorrow. Our two person household only ever gets halfway in the garbage anyways unless it’s a deep clean weak.

I’ve taken furniture to Blind Community Thrift Store on N. Kansas and also to the Salvation Army on Chestnut and Kansas.

PassionHouseProject@gmail.com is a great local non profit that rehoused furniture to those in need.

Tried once with an old bed. Took it out to the curb hoping the trash guys would take it

They did not.

You can place a free sign on it or place it on Facebook marketplace as free item at curb. If all else fails put a $15 sign on it and watch someone "steal" it. Lol

This. A $20 dollar fridge on the curb gets taken quicker than a free one.
