As of yesterday, 3/13/23, the college has permanently shut down and are citing bankruptcy. Not in the news yet for some reason. As a past esthetics student, I must admit that it wasn't a great school. It was pretty bad, actually. But not even the students or teachers knew of the shutdown until 10 am. The school then closed at 10:15.

Wow that's some pretty poor decision making on their part. They just burnt any bridges they may have had with their now former students and staff. And, potentially violated numerous laws. Managment looking out for management yet again.

I wish the best of luck to all of the staff and students impacted. I hope they quickly recover and find better places.

I agree! I had gone to that school for 7 months, and it felt obvious that it was going downhill. I just still wish they would've given students and staff a warning before shutting down...

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act requires a 60 day notice. But only covers those with 100 full time employees or more. I do not know the set up this for profit school used, so I can not guess if they fall under that. But, you should defiantly speak to someone at the department of employment security ASAP. They can at least get a claim started and retraining going if needed.

There was maybe 15 full time employees, if that.

In the one location or all locations? And full time is counted as anyone working over 20 hours a week and employed for at least 6 months in the act. If the owner only closed the one location, then you should be able to move to another or else they risk other liabilities. Regardless go to the DoE and get a claim started if you are impacted by this shutdown.

I, fortunately, was not impacted. However, there was only one location. We had no janitorial staff because the students did all the cleaning. The only staff were teachers and office workers.

Unfortunately as a former student there has been a history of shady things happening to teachers. From homophobia to unjustly firing them. They also offer a ton of students to get their instructor license because it’s a huge tax write off.

As far as I'm aware, the students have been compensated for the loss. However, I am unsure what's going to happen for the staff.

At least the students don’t have debt and no diploma/certification, whatever they were going for

Wow this is so sad I graduated from the Esthetics program there too🥹 I had a great experience there and I thought the Stanley’s were good people at the time. I am shocked if they didn’t tell the students or teachers until it happened , that’s crappy .

The Stanley's were always so sweet!! I got there just as we got some new teachers and it was unfortunately a very poor experience. So happy you had a good time tho!

Thanks! Oh no I’m sorry you didn’t have a great experience there! Did they recently get new teachers or did you go there a long time ago? I graduated in 2018, I had Ms Rose and Rayna. But yeah the Stanley’s were super sweet so if they are the same owners of it now it’s sad that it’s come to this 😩

Same owners! When I started, we had Ms. Rose, Ms. Amanda, and Ms. Joni. All quit or were fired within about 3 months. Then a new teacher was hired, and then a student from the school graduated and became a teacher a few days after she graduated.

A friend’s daughter goes there and said their tuition will transfer to another school in Springfield. I’m sure Paul Mitchell and Academy are about to be full if not before.

Oh, good! I knew the students had been compensated, but it's nice knowing that their schooling wasn't wasted. I hope the staff turn out okay.

Sounds like the same situation as when Regency closed down. Didn’t tell students or staff, until they showed up to a not on the school door. Sucky situation, hopefully the students can get in at one of the other schools with little trouble.
