Not directly, but it definitely indicates that AI research is more and more the thing that drives market caps. This in turn stimulates more investment by big players and brings awareness of AI to the collective consciousness.
SgathTriallair t1_j9b9k8j wrote
Good point. It does speak to a growing awareness and influence of AI.

I kind of disagreed. If it were AI was used to make some stock pick predictions, I would then agree.
This is just that BuzzFeed announced there were going to use AI and humans decided to jump in to invest. Nothing more.

Having stock dictated by performance of AI text generator is very much hardcore cyberpunk territory.

yup and neither is schools getting paranoid about chatgpt.

Is there some kind of competition over who makes a longer list that you need to put unrelated bloat in it? Hype doesn't speed up progress. Deal with it.

Yeah this list should've been about 1/4th the size.

Source on this? I Googled around and found nothing.

No mention of Cicero, arguably the most surprising AI developed until now.
Edit: alright alright, this was done in November 2022. I take my L.

A lot of these are not ai development. Disappointing if this is all that is measured as progress

I actually bought Google stock last week cause I think that was an overreaction to a small mistake. That's not what makes or breaks Google's position as a leader in AI development.

Not that it’s not cool, but there’s a gulf between having proof of concept and having an actual product/service in production.
I think lists like these would gain more traction if they just stuck to things that the average consumer can use today.

Really cool stuff. I think this should become a monthly mod post or something. It's gonna be cool to see how things develop during the year.

Is there a source for these?
Also wondering if ChatGPT or others have been subjected to a standard IQ test. Given that it was able to pass the Wharton and Medical exams.
I found this https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1O5KVQW1Hx5ZAkcg8AIRjbQLQzx2wVaLl0SqUu-ir9Fs/edit#gid=1264523637 but not the details source/owner of the sheet.

Sorry, I meant to point to #11 on that sheet "ChatGPT scores IQ=147, 99.9th %ile." But the others are also interesting.
challengethegods t1_j9cxiez wrote
People complaining that the list is too long are secretly complaining that their feeble human minds aren't durable enough and are instinctively requesting a tl;dr-ELI5 chatGPT summary of the summary of the headlines. I mean really, nobody has time to read 5000 AI/ML papers when someone could just say "shit's crazy" instead. Just post that.

Man how do we regulate these new releases? There has to be an international body for this
