My girlfriend and i are planning a trip to providence. We saw that Ego was an 18+ lgbtq+ club but have also heard mixed reviews over it (i.e. security turning people away for not being “gay enough”). Any feedback on if it’s a good place to go?

I’m a straight 36 year old white dude and I can confirm no one assessed my gayness when I went there on a Saturday with my fiancé and friends.

The music was awful though hahah. Definitely catered to a young crowd. 60 second clips of bad pop remixes. I love house/dance/disco but the music was none of that

lol I've never heard of the being turned away for not being "gay enough". Also I'm not sure if they're always 18+, I'm fairly certain that's only for some events. you'd have to check they're insta or website maybe?

I know i thought it was weird but one of the google reviews said that the person was turned away for “not being gay enough” so i was confused

Someone was probably being an asshole and the bouncer/security didn’t let them in because of it, so they decided to make a negative review with a fake reason to try and get some people to boycott it. That is my assumption.

That’s nonsense. Never heard of that happening.

Definitely better for the younger crowds, not really any other lgbt spaces except alchemy.

I think they have 18+ nights but it’s not all the time

They just got called out for being transphobic/anti black because two local drag queens of color who had been working there were fired over text message? So personally I’m not planning on supporting them anytime soon. More info here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CpllalTMRi0/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
