So criminals can commit crimes and not have it filmed.

Back in the day we used to light up the police corner cameras with BBs to stop the filming😅

Saw a kid throw a brick at one of the police cameras but he didn’t put enough force into it and it ended up smashing a car window instead.

The cops never caught him so the functionality of the cameras was always questionable at best.

I grew up in the suburbs of Philly and we used to kick light poles until they turned off (they turned back on like an hour or so later) but we did it to play man hunt

Think of the most cynical thing you can and that's probably your answer.

A couple of potential routes to get an official answer:

  • SEPTA_SOCIAL on Twitter
  • Report this via the SEPTA Transit Watch app

Might also be worth raising to whatever councilperson's district the stations are in. I'm personally torn as I could 100% see this as the result of some dipshit contractor putting tape up before painting/cleaning and forgetting to take it back down, but it could also be some slightly more enterprising low-level criminals. Either way it shouldn't be allowed to stay.
