Every time this story updates my mind automatically always goes to Russia and then am reminded there’s a Moscow Idaho

These small local news sites never realize their stories get picked up nationally.

It’s not that the “never realize” it, it’s that they don’t care for good reason.

NWPB specifically cares about their 3.6million viewers in eastern Washington and Idaho, they have no desire to make sure that someone in Florida knows that this article isn’t written about Russia.

It would make much less sense to clarify which Moscow they meant in every single article they wrote.

Hell. This article even has Idaho in the picture and first written sentence. What more do y’all want? “THIS ISNT RUSSIA” in every headline?

It would make much less sense to deny themselves some unintended clicks an therefore ad revenue…

It’s weird how Moscow gets associated with Russia but whenever St. Petersburg comes up in the news I think of the one near Tampa. This happened recently with the explosions near the Russian city.

Oh funny I actually think of Russia with st. Petersburg

I used to live there, it's easier because it is pronounced differently, could catch a phone scammer easily because of just that.

We need to petition who ever is in charge of such things to make the Idaho one:

Moscow (I)

This is not looking good in terms of having any idea who did this.

> Police do not believe the two surviving roommates were involved. They were home at the time of the attack.

> The Idaho State Police are analyzing DNA samples, such as bedding and nail clippings, from the scene. The coroner says it’s possible some of the DNA could be from the killer.

And I get it - cops hold back info to “catch” an unsuspecting killer who might not have their guard up:

> “What we hope they are doing is they have information that they’re withholding because they don’t want the person, whoever they eventually find, to know what they’ve been talking to the press. So they can use that as part of the investigation process,” said Wolf.

But my guess is the cops still don’t have any good leads or idea what happened:

> There are currently no suspects in custody. The murder weapon has not been found.

> Investigators are asking anyone who saw suspicious behavior, or has video footage or information about the attack to call their tip line at 208-883-7180 or email tipline@ci.moscow.id.us.

I hope they find the killer. This is beyond horrific what happened to those students. Maybe they can try the cell phone triangulation data that cops used to catch the Craigslist killer in Boston about ten years ago (and that the FBI has been using to figure out who was inside the Capitol on Jan 6).

ViciousNakedMoleRat t1_ix3gnqd wrote

Didn't the FBI get many of the Jan 6ers because their phones tried to connect with the Capitol's wifi network, which left their IMEI numbers in the system? I don't know whether that's a possibility with regular routers.

I remember claims that the Capitol building has it's own cell (for the same effect)

Shades of the Ted Bundy assault on the Chi Omega sorority house.

First thing I thought of was Ted Bundy when I heard about this. Sounds like a particularly savage murder without motivation = serial killer, to me

At this point, the fbi should take over. If you don’t have a clear suspect within a couple of days, it’s probably not clear cut case. 4 people stabbed to death in same house while two were left untouched. If it was a crime of passion, wouldn’t they just kill the intended target and maaaybe their lover? Murders like this are very very rare which probably means the motive and suspect and not run of the mill.

From the article:

> There is a large police presence in town. The Moscow Police Department has four detectives and 24 patrol officers on the case. There are 20 investigators and 15 uniformed troopers from the Idaho State Police involved, along with 22 FBI agents.

You should learn up federal vs state/city/county jurisdiction. Hint, this isn’t a movie.

Double_Hunt_8970 t1_ix5fli5 wrote

It seems in the rare cases when someone else is left untouched sleeping in the same home during a murder it’s ALWAYS a fucking mystery. I am 100% sure they will find the murderer if there is even a remote connection. If not, then it was a completely random act of targeted violence. Maybe the two girls pissed off some psycho incel, ex con or a serial killer at the bar. He waited outside. Followed them home in his car, and then bam. The couple probably were just unlucky.

Pr0sthetics t1_ix3lngx wrote

This is going to be a future dateline episode.

atomic1fire t1_ix56u04 wrote

It sounds like whoever murdered the 4 people was super angry.

That just makes me wonder if it was personal (or at least someone who had an argument with one or all the victims), or if it was just some random psycho who let loose.

2 victims knew each other from high school, the one dude (I assume) is the boyfriend, and the other is somebody else.

I'm kinda hoping that the police know who the suspect is, but don't want to say anything because they don't want them to make a run for it.

mokutou t1_ix6wbz2 wrote

Two of the girls were friends since childhood. The guy was dating one of them. The third girl was a sorority sister of the first two, if I recall correctly.

I have a lot of concerns about this case. Information is leaking like a sieve from the PD and the ME, lots of rumors are flying around unchecked, and that disgusting photo of the blood leaking from the house should've never been allowed to have been taken.

At this point, I'm not confident that the case will be solved due to negligence, and I feel so bad for the families of the dead, the two surviving roommates, and all of those who have been wrongly accused/doxxed because the PD suggested they were suspects.

18

GTI_88 t1_ix4a2s7 wrote

Who has the PD suggested are suspects? I have not heard them suggest anyone.

How do you prevent press swarming a crime scene and getting that photo? It was taken from the public sidewalk / road with a telephoto lens.

How do you stop rumors flying around with a crime of this nature?

I have not heard of any leaks from the PD or ME, what I have heard is them trying to keep the public reasonably informed in a difficult situation, primarily I’m sure because they were heavily criticized at the beginning when they weren’t saying anything.

44

GiraffePolka t1_ix4c390 wrote

yeah, I agree. There is no way to prevent regular people from gawking and taking photos, especially the press. Yesterday there was video of someone using a drone to get footage around the house, I didn't watch the video but it's some youtuber I think who did it. It's now going to be a frenzied mix of the regular press and true crime fanatics trying to get as much info and photos as they can.

14

lowbatteries t1_ix8e9fj wrote

There is no photo of blood leaking from anywhere. People need to stop reading tabloids. The Daily Mail posted a photo of a stain on the side of the house that could be anything.

89141 t1_ixb8yj1 wrote

That’s not true. A NBC reporter said they can’t show the house because there was visible blood.

Ted Bundy chose a sorority house for a reason. If the first person he had encountered in the Chi O house had been a fit man, he very well may have headed for the nearest exit.

If I’m comparing homicides where 2 or people were slaughtered, I can’t help but think of Nicole Brown/Ron Simpson and the Tate murders (Charles Manson).

These murders have
