This feels like grandstanding. How is this a civil liberties issue? What is this supposed to accomplish? We already know this is under investigation, seems the ACLU could spend their resources better elsewhere.

The ACLU hasn't supported civil liberties as a core policy in a couple decades at his point.
The ACLU spends its resources where it can please donor whales. I.e. helping write shitty defamatory OP eds and actively trying to erode due process on college campuses.
I'm as anti trump as it gets but this is just an embarrassing waste of everyone's time.

Title is misleading. They made a FOIA request some time ago, and these agencies haven't responded. The lawsuit is simply a way to force the agencies to respond to the request they already made.

I don't know why they initially made the request, and it's not important. But Federal agencies are legally bound to respond. They cannot be allowed not to.
