Anybody went through jury duty process recently via zoom?
I did this a month ago via zoom. I sat through two days of jury selection and was dismissed.
Thank you for your insight! Did you have to report on the day thats listed on the green card or was the date it assigned throughout the week?
Hey there method1491 - thanks for saying thanks! TheGratitudeBot has been reading millions of comments in the past few weeks, and you’ve just made the list!
I was originally supposed to report on the date listed on the card. I received an email a few days before that date, that it was changed to later in the week. I didn't know if I would be reporting for one day or more. The judge excused me after two days of selection. It would have been a 3-5 week trial if I was selected.
Awesome, thank you again for your answer! One last question is if on the first day if they had time for you to plead your case for excusal before the selection process and how lond did you have to stay in zoom during thise 2 days.
A lot of people were asking the host of the room if they could speak to the judge before the selection process. She said she would let the judge know. I don't know if they were able to plead their case early. I just waited and was pulled into a private room to speak to the judge on the second day. The host of the room can't excuse you, only the judge can.
The first day was from 8am until 4pm, with an hour for lunch. The second day started at 10am, and I spoke with the judge around 3pm.
Thank you so much for all this information! You have cleared up alot of confusion for me!!
I had a lot of questions and concerns before I had to report, so I'm glad to help.
I had a summons for late July, usual Monday start. I got an email the Friday morning before saying:
>Please allow this e-mail to inform you that your jury service is complete as of [Friday date]. The virtual petit jury selection process that was to begin [Monday date], has now been completed, and your service is no longer required. We kindly ask that you please do not call or email the office to confirm, the validity of this email. YOUR SERVICE IS COMPLETE.
>
>Thank you very much for your commitment and your willingness to serve as a juror.
First time I've ever finished jury duty before it was supposed to start. A+++ would serve again.
Oh wow thats awesome!! Look forward to be in the same situation as you !!

Zoom jury duty was awesome. Sat in my home office watching movies and gaming with my ipad camera facing me. They took the whole morning to take attendance and then the jury selection process started after lunch. It was a lot of people so they didn’t get to everyone on day 1. Day 2, finally got to speak to the judge and he dismissed me before noon.
