Above is a link to a very insightful opinion piece written by a Jersey City resident, homeowner and parent actively involved in the Jersey City School system and dealings with the School Board...not just posting on Reddit telling people who exactly they should vote for, and understanding that there's literally so much more to consider in this race than your own personal tax bill.

A thoughtful intelligent opinion from someone who GETS it. 😍

None of them are putting the kids first, they're putting their wallets first. If they were putting kids first we wouldn't see their budget expload, while the schools collapse and grades plummet.

70% of the BoE budget goes to salaries, and one of the members recently commented that next year, with the state cutting the funding to JC, they would be against cutting jobs over raising taxes, which means they are in it just for themselves.

You're telling people to not think about their own personal tax bill, which is a pretty asshole statement, as you don't know their situation. So someone should just lose their house because someone shouts "think of the children!" Screw that. In that case people would be justified to respond that parents should then pay their own way for their children, because a lot of well off parents are putting their kids in to JC public schools in downtown.

The author here also lists herself as a "working mother" leaving out how she's an activist connected with the Saul Alinsky founded network of activist groups. She shows up in every NJ school tax article, but is being disingenuous by portraying herself as just a working mom (she also happens to be a lawyer at a NY lawfirm, so it's cute of her to tell others that they should pony up money)

But if you think that's someone who "gets it" you clearly don't get it at all.

I think we should all be asking why the payroll tax is not making up for the SFRA aid money being taken from the state. Why didn't it work as sold to us by our lawmakers? Is it being implemented robustly or disproportionately against small businesses? Why is it being held in a way by the city, that makes it not transparent for board of education to make budget decisions? With a boom in business over last year in JC Why didn't collection increase dramatically?

So I take it, you're not voting? Since none of them are putting the kids 1st? Or are you saying that, you're not putting the kids 1st and are voting for the team that not only will not put the kids 1st, but who you THINK will put your taxes 1st?

The only asshole move is being purely concerned about your or other people's tax bill, claiming lack of transparency, yet somehow knowing exact percentages of how much money is allocated to salaries...and in your own words, "you don't know their situation." And then being so tone deaf that you call someone else an asshole for not being as selfish and self serving as you. Your entire argument is dumb. Guess what, I've paid more taxes than I would have liked for my entire life, yet have driven over potholes, bridges that are falling apart and don't have access to Medicaid or Medicare...but you don't know my situation boo hoo hoo right? Your own Governor states if you don't want to pay high taxes, New Jersey is not the state for you. Why haven't you gotten the message by now? Move.

Fyi, offering a fuller view of the big picture that doesn't align with yours does not make you a shill. That's how Democracy works....see... different people have different view points and they vote for who THEY want to vote, not who YOU tell them to because all you care about are taxes. I guess EDUCATION MATTERS 🤷

Look at my comment history, sir. I’ve done my due diligence on how inefficient the public schools are run with stats and numbers. Have you? You on the other hand are straight up lapdog of the very people responsible for 30%+ rent/property tax increase and families having to uproot to relocate elsewhere. The corrupt machine that you represent is what is wrong with NJ politics.

Some of my posts are presenting the opposing point of view to posts telling people: VOTE FOR CHANGE FOR CHILDREN. You will never find a single post of mine telling people to VOTE FOR EDUCATION MATTERS. Sorry, try again. The fact that you are so angry and worked up about this just makes YOUR bullshit more evident. Anyone who isn't gullible knows that posts from you and your ilk are self serving and you care about nothing more than reducing your personal tax bill and pushing the agenda of developers. 🤷

Unlike the downvote happy Reddit minority, Jersey City residents have chosen to follow the headline of this post, and not be fooled by real estate developer astroturfing.
