Yes. I just went from a 27 1080p 144hz to a 34 uws 1440p 144hz and it’s a huge difference in picture quality.

I know exactly how you feel. I did 24 FHD to 27 4K, was disappointed by the cost/reward ratio and then switched for a 34 UW 1440p and was blown away. But to get back on track and answer OP’s question: yes, you will notice immediately the difference between 1080p and 1440p for most games. If you mostly/only do competitive shooters, a high refresh 1080p would arguably be better. Also, please not that the CPU/GPU both play an important role at 1080p, but the higher the resolution the more the pressure on the GPU (even if the CPU is still relevant).

This is going to be even more subjective than the framerate bump. If your screen is too small, or you're sitting too far from it, or your eyesight just isn't good enough, the answer could be no. Personally, I have a hard time telling apart 1080p from 1440p at around three feet from a 24" screen. Any closer though, it's noticeably different.

At this point 1080p looks pretty blurry to me. 1440p is very clear. It’s a big upgrade

Let's bring back the 800x600. Those were the days.

I remember writing a graphics library for my computing HND back in 1996. It was DOS based and could run a resolution of 320x200. Those games and programmes I made for that were magical.

I think my favourite was a plasma style flame screen saver. That and the 3D starfield one, complete with scaling sprites!

Nice :D

One of my old classmates once made a backup of his mom's harddrive. On a floppy disk.

Those things were used for a surprisingly long time. I kinda miss them.

I still have my old floppy disks. Probably still got my HND project on them if they're readable still too!

Half decent 1440p with 10bit panel 165hz sure. If your system car run games at 1440p. Just don’t use DLSS Performance and come here screaming it looks shiat. Quality only.

Depends on the size of ur current monitor Imo. If you have a 27 fhd monitor it will make a huge difference.

Yes but get ready for watching blurry twitch stream. 1440p is amazing when consuming 1440p content, when you watch 1080p content with high compression it’s pretty bad… hope big tech giant makes the switch to av1 codec so we can consume 1440p content soon

Yeah, 100%, it makes 1080p look so blurry once you switch. Huge upgrade.

Make sure you’re running at graphics card that can handle it. Don’t upgrade unless you can push the higher res with a good card.
