5 I think. But I always find religious cults interesting. This FC being set in Murica was also interesting.
It was also cool to just wander around in 5 because of the setting.
Far Cry 4 or 5. Even Primal is good. Far Cry 6 is fine but bland. 4, Primal, and 5 are at least fun with interesting settings or villains. Though 6 does have Giancarlo Esposito so...that is a plus.
So:
Far Cry 4 for a fun villain, beautiful setting
Far Cry 5 for a menacing villain and a genuinely fun sand box experience
Far Cry Primal for animal taming and another beautiful setting
Far Cry 6 if you just want a bare bones Far Cry experience with some celebrities (Danny Trejo is in it too) The DLC is fun though.
I liked Primal the most. But I'm weird
Primal has been my favourite. To have a far cry game without guns was fun.
I dream of an Arctic Far Cry. Travel by dogsled and whatever. Could be cool
That's honestly fair. It is the most unique of the series. Honestly all three of the spin-offs are arguably better than the main line series. Blood Dragon, Primal, and New Dawn (New Dawn is more of a sequel but it's different enough)
Primal isn’t arguably better than anything. It’s a melee based game without a parry, dodge, or more attacks than “stab”. Undercooked hell scape of a game.
Why would it have a parry or a dodge? It's a Far Cry game. From my memory Far Cry has never had a parry or dodge. Anything new they added felt like something that could be in future games (like weapon crafting and throwing and animal taming for instance)
It is labeled as part of the series so it can be easily argued as part of that series and as better than any one of them. You clearly didn't like it but plenty of others did. I know I have a blast every time I play it.
Because it’s melee based, you can just stab. That’s it, one attack. It’s just laziness from the developer. If you make a game that usually you have guns, replace them but make zero effort to make the new weapons fun, that’s laziness!
Your argument is “it’s farcry”. That’s a poor reason to make half a game. Lots of mechanics can be added/removed. Farcry had super mutants, farcry 2 had malaria. They don’t feature in the new games so it shows mechanics and interaction can change.
Having some kind of dynamic interaction with the combat could have made it more engaging. The lack of story is one thing, but muted, half finished gameplay is a miserable thing to interact with. Some people have a huge tolerance for blandness though.
It’s a lazy reskin of the fourth game. Considering Ubisoft just keep remaking 3 in various forms, it’s lazy. They’re lazy.
>you can just stab. That’s it
That is 100% false. There are multiple weapons with multiple attacks. You can throw them, set them on fire, craft them on the fly because they can break or lose them. You can command animals or use stealth. Take them out from a range or use traps. Even lead them into other threats
The combat is as dynamic as it has to be in a 10 000 BC setting. You play an early man who has basic combat knowledge mostly as a defense. To have him play like he was a professional fighter would be weird and out of place.
It's not half a game. It's a fully fleshed out game. Just vastly different than the previous titles. Even the "reused map" is completely unrecognizable because of the work they put in to make it so.
Maybe engage with the mechanics rather than swing a weapon once and claim that's all there is to it.
Crafting is not an attack, throwing is a ranged attack. Yes, there are other mechanics, sorry you missed the specifics about the melee combat. Game was still lazy, but go off. Some people like trash, it’s your right.
When did I say crafting was an attack?
My argument is that in melee you can only stab. You claim it’s not true and stated a bunch of examples, including crafting. None of which were melee attacks. You mentioned the fire, a modification to the attack.
You literally said it to point out my statement as false. That’s when.
Dude, you stab with your spear. Hold it it is a heavier lunge. One handed club has a swing, hold it and it's an over head attack. The two handed club as a heavy swing, and again, hold it separate attack. That is much more than just stab. If you had played the game like the other comment said you'd have known that.
I never said crafting was an attack.
>There are multiple weapons with multiple attacks. You can throw them, set them on fire, craft them on the fly because they can break or lose them.
Those were my exact words. Now I'm no English teacher but I'm pretty sure that dot after the first sentence is a period. Pretty sure that means the start of a new sentence. A sentence in which I list other things you can do in combat (things other than just stab btw). Not listing attacks.
I was quite clearly pointing out your "just stab" comment was false because of the multiple attacks as well as what you can do during combat to enhance the attack or keep enemies at a distance.
Is Far Cry Primal the deepest combat at ever? No. It's fairly shallow. But since it is a sandbox game where variety is key for a good time, I say it suffices for what it does in that department. If you focus on just the melee you are missing out on a huge chunk of the game.
So you stab, or you stab harder, got it. Club, you swing or swing harder, yes, real progress. I prefer to stab with the club. You’re reinforcing the point that melee is undercooked laziness, with almost zero variety. Worse, you seem to think that stab and stab a bit harder is worth mentioning as different enough to separate them.
Yes, a period, which then means all context is lost and nothing you said before relates to it. Again, got it. You’re damn right you’re no English teacher, if that’s your response. Paragraphs don’t exist, context isn’t real and periods denote the end of a topic? Nice.
It’s not deep. Ubisoft have been coasting, it’s just your tolerance for half cooked, lazy games is lower than mine. Defending mediocrity is a habit for Ubi fans. Enjoy being the human embodiment of beige.
Light and heavy attacks, dude. Whether you believe it or not, they are classified as different attacks, whether the motion is the same or not. I agreed with you the melee alone is shallow. It's not supposed to be deep. I think you're missing that Far Cry games are sandbox games first. You are dropped into a world with a variety of tools and you need to get shit done. Melee was just one of the variety of tools in Primal. One tool. Use the others in tandem and you might actually smile for once in your clearly sad life.
So you have never played Farcry Primal. Got it.
I’ve played it, maybe you should play another game to give you context?
5 is the best FarCry and 6 is the worst.
5 better than 4?
I think so.
Only youuuuu🎶
That's how you shoot innocent people.
4 for sure
Far cry blood dragon Synthwave plays in the distance
I liked 6 more than 5, but I liked 4 out of all the games in the series so far.
FC5 had an absolutely lousy ending. It was so bad I immediately went and got New Dawn in an attempt to wash out the aftertaste of FC5 ending from my mouth. And New Dawn wasn't any better. Slightly, but not much.
FC6 is just generic, without anything groundbreaking or any sharp corners, and with some fun activities like fishing and hunting, and visually pleasing tropical paradise to run around in. Esposito was criminally misused though, the ending was still kinda crap (though nowhere near as bad as FC5) and the writing was trash as usual, an average 9-year-old with a box of crayons could have done better.
Between FC5 and FC6, I would go for FC6. But in the entire series, I would have stopped at FC4 and pretended the rest just never happened.
If you play 5 do NOT finish it. Go fishing instead.
All of the main (numbered) Far Cry games are more or less the same with some tweaks (like they stopped doing the typical "Ubisoft towers" after 4). If you can find a good deal, they're all fun, if a bit repetitive.
I think 5 is the best, but if you like that kind of game, they're all pretty much the same.
They do a tower in FC5 just to make fun of the concept.
Hardly the best. The map is so damn empty. 4 had a small chopper and trucks going up and down the roads...bombing them was fun. In 5 I never used a heli because what for??
5 for me, 6 was good but enjoyed 5 alot more as it was the first Far Cry since the first one I actually played till the end. Thought the series was pretty boring up until that point. I guess I'm just a sucker for cults.
Both
You have missed 4? 5 has a nice map and ok story, but its too empty. 6 just did not grab me and I tried it for free. Uninstalled after like 2 hours.
Get 4...story is great, funnier side quest stuff than 3. Hunt to be able to craft was kinda cool.
Totally forgot New Dawn! Even better than 5!
My main gripe with 4 was the main NPCs who want Ajay to join them are both the worst kind of people. One wants war for the sake of war and the other just wants to hide away (might be over simplified, been a while since I played). The best choice is the secret ending you can get.
Well she was saying YEAH DRUGS ARE FINE AS LONG AS WE CAN HAVE A BETTER LIFE....and he was too stuck with his tradition. Still better than her though. The cultist leader in 5 is much worse in any way :p
Worse, yes. But I'd take memorable Father Joseph over Drug Lady and War Dude.
Hell I'd even prefer malaria an enemy again haha
6 has the best map design and exploration in the whole series. 5 has a nicer story.
Depends on what you’re looking for.
I loved 6. 5 has one of the worst mechanics with forced interactions to push the story forward.
Like others have said 4 if you have that option. I haven't played 6 but 5 was some good fun.
4 is $8 on ps store right now so I’ll prob do that since 5 is $80. I was thinking 6 bc it’s $20 right now but seems like no one likes 6
6 is fine. Between 4, 5, and 6, 6 is probably the weakest, but if you like Far Cry and want more of it, you'll probably like 6 just fine.
I agree with letting price be the decider. The quality difference between the games doesn't change the math if you can get one for $8.
I literally just bought 5 gold ed. For 17.99 on ps store
If 6 is only $20 I'd pick it up for later. Spend the bit extra for the DLCs if you can. It's not awful but definitely not worth full price.

Personally I’d say Primal, 4 or 5. I didn’t care for 6 at all

5 is great because of the cult/psychedelic new world religion antagonist which makes his self-righteous stance pretty interesting. The graphics and setting are very beautiful too. Montana is gorgeous.
Personally I think 5 is far better then 6
