🖤 That looks so peaceful. I had four snakes and they'd cuddle in my sweater for my body warmth while we napped. 🖤

Cuddling snakes is just so peaceful and they're very good at it, lol. I'm just constantly afraid of falling asleep and having mine wander off into some corner then have to trash my room at 1am looking for the little stealthy fucker.

I have a Kenyan Sand Boa btw, I suggest them for anyone who might be looking into herpkeeping but afraid of bigger ones. Tiny mouth, silly looking, chubby snake, quite calm and sleepy.

Meanwhile my Kenyan sand boa is a grumpy little menace worm who doesn't hesitate to snap at me😂 anything is excused when you look that derpy though so he's all good 🧡

Every snake I've ever met has been super chill, except for the rattlesnake on the hiking trail who was a big scaredy boi that didn't want to play. Fortunately nature gave him a fuckoff noise organ that quickly alerted us to his preference. Snakes are alright.

Yeah same experience for me too. Only snake I ever met that didn’t like me was a rattler on the hill. I’m really glad my school had a pet snake when I was a kid so I could learn to love them instead of be afraid of them.

I used to put my little guy around my neck and then put on a scarf over him. He loved it.

I was disappointed when I saw they weren't real snakes. :T

Snakes are the best cuddlers. I know it is only to steal my precious warmth but I still love them.

To you and the folks saying snakes are “good cuddlers”…

They are literally sizing you up see if they can eat you.

Definitely meet all types of folks on Reddit.

My friend, where in the wild would a snake get the chance to measure itself against its prey?

What animal would lie still while a snake stretched out and eyed them up? Why do people think snakes have the intelligence to even compare length? You know how many snakes explode trying to eat crocs? Or vomit trying to eat a mouse a few grams too big???

abslyde t1_j6221kh wrote

Snakes act differently in the wild and captivity?

You just made my point, they eat crocodiles and other large animals. They may not survive but it happens.

AngrySnakeNoises t1_j625gk9 wrote

Snakes absolutely do not size up their prey and often die in the wild by consuming something bigger than they can handle. This is an old wive's tale that "the snake sizes the owner up", google it.

I had a customer swear up and down that her ball python pair, a female and a male, both tried measuring against her and she had to get them put down by the vet at their recommendation.

Every question I asked had a quick reply. "How can a ball python ever considered you, a human being, a meal? They dont get nearly that big."

"Oh, I was a child!"

"How would they have gotten the chance to 'measure' you?"

"Oh, they both slept in my bed all the time!"

I left the conversation feeling like she would have lied if I asked her what color her own eyes were. Apparently she is known for this behaviour, according to a regular.

Snakes will not bite you if you don’t bother or threaten them. A man proved this via an experiment where he locked himself inside a cage with a dozen venomous snakes and chilled in it for a three days.

You do set design for films?

LeeroyM OP t1_j61vqws wrote

I do not, I'd like to tho. I've been flirting with the idea of making a short film for a year now but getting the funding has proved difficult.

VeronicaJ81 t1_j61vyze wrote

You DEFINITELY need to. I don’t know about directing but set design for horror films would be brilliant. Good luck! We’ll recognize your work when we see it(the staircase with the old people is insanely good)

Who is taking care of all those snakes? Are they getting enough light and heat? Do they need a caretaker or are they self-sufficient? Who is that guy, by the way???
