But the weird thing? Absolutely nothing was taken and no damage. Not my expensive sunglasses. Not the 7$ in change. They went though and left my registration on the driver's seat and it was placed perfectly like it's what they were after or looking at but it makes no sense. Nothing with my DOB was in the car so good there as far as identification issues.

I got back late and must have forgotten to lock to the doors so stupid me. Could have been spooked before they wanted to take anything.

Just a heads up in lower Allston

We found a lot of stuff. From bodily fluid and hair samples, we determined that a bunch of old, homeless dudes had an orgy in the car. You know what that's called when they do that in there? That's called a soup kitchen. It's pretty rough stuff. Not long after that, a mama raccoon came along and gave birth on the floor.

Why did you do that?

Charles Manson and friends use to break into people's houses and just move things around, but not take anything, just to try to freak people out.. he's been dead for a few years though.

I’ve had this happen too. I learned that they’re basically just looking for credit cards or drugs.

Sorry, I thought it was my car. Good thing I checked the registration, huh?

I actually think this is the most likely scenario. Probably pressed the button to unlock the doors, doors open, but the key won’t fit the ignition. Check the glove box to find it’s not their car and walk away.

It's the best place to put the registration for a picture.

Had the same thing happen to me in Allston about a decade ago. Saw my glove box open with all the contents on the passenger seat. My guess is they were looking for a GPS or something.

I had this happen to me in Somerville years ago. They took ~10$ of quarters, which was fine since they left a $300 pair of sunglasses and a $600 radar detector. Everything ripped out of the glove box.

Smart criminals (to the extent that those exist) will sometimes break into cars, take a look at the registration to see where the owner lives, and grab a garage door opener (if they have one).

That's why, if you have a garage, it's always a good idea to lock the door leading to the house.

I doubt that happened to you, though. More of a suburbs thing.
