Hello, I want to take my girlfriend to the Boston aquarium for our anniversary and when I went on the website, they showed this thing for a city pass. It seems like I can’t reserve aquarium tickets and if I just buy the city pass, I just have to show up to the aquarium and then I can get in, has anybody had any experiences with using this at the aquarium on a Saturday or the weekend and having issues with getting tickets at all?

People who live here don't tend to buy the city pass...

If you have a bpl card you should be able to find a free four person pass via their museum pass program. Just and FYI

What’s a bpl card?

Boston Public Library. They offer museum passes. Most MA libraries only offer 50% off the aquarium but the Boston library offers completely free admission.

And yes you would just get in line at the aquarium to redeem your ticket. Whether through city pass or library coupon. I was nervous about them running out of reservations but when I got to the window they told me I didn’t have to worry about that.

If they live or work in MA they're eligible for a card. Not helpful if they're out-of-staters, but more people should know how accessible the cards are.

You don’t need to be a Boston resident to use the Boston public library?

Nope! Their eligibility and application instructions are here. They even offer digital cards for access to their online resources if you're not able to travel to Boston for a physical card. (Tip on that: if you're trying to borrow an ebook that has a waitlist, your BPL card grants you borrowing privileges to something like 7 or 8 other library networks in MA, and usually you can find an available copy of the ebook through one of them!)
