Hello,

Curious if anyone here works at, or has recently coordinated a Wedding in and around Worcester that can provide some suggestions for venues for either the Ceremony, Reception or Both combined at one place.

I understand "Affordable" is relative, so please share even if you aren't sure maybe it's within range. Thank you in advance.

Not sure of budget it is for my sister who is looking around.

We just had our reception at Seven Saws Brewery in Holden, and it was absolutely beautiful!

We got a food truck, a photo booth, there were two fire pits, the bar with their beers, some wine, and NA choices. We had around 75 people, it was on a Sunday from 530-10.

The venue alone was 1200, everything including the venue was around 5k. Super low key, but memorable and perfect :)

City Hall and save your money.

This is the real pro tip. City hall it the wedding with maybe just your parents and then if you still want a party, throw a rager at your home / a decent restaurant and call it a day.

Exactly. The moment you mention "wedding" the price of everything skyrockets.

Spend a day in family court first. Observe, then decide.

The White Room at Crompton is awesome. Definitely unique and maybe not for everyone. But worth checking out!

Old stone church in west boylston. It’s free.

Yes but there’s only like a 25 person limit and you can’t bring chairs or anything. And they can’t guarantee there won’t be random people walking around.

Arrowhead Acres in Uxbridge.

They have a really big venue hall and an outdoor chapel if the weather is nice. The banquet hall holds something like 150-200 people. The thing we really liked about them was that they didn't care about the vendors - we could use whomever we wanted.

Our major vendors were:

  • Arrowhead Acres (venue/ceremony)
  • Arrowhead Acres liquor partner (can't remember who, but they're the only option)
  • Ramu and the Crew (DJ - recommended to us by the venue. He was really awesome)
  • All Fired Up BBQ and Clambakes (amazing food)
  • Diane Rockwell made the wedding cake. We went to all the most popular bakeries around Worcester and she blew them all away. This was the cake she made us. Each tier was a different flavor, no extra cost for it. Those are sugar flowers. edit: It looks smaller in that picture than it actually was - it fed all of our guests and we took the top layer home.

Our photographer was someone my wife knew through a BNI group, I don't know who they were, but they also gave us a courtesy discount. Anyway, all in on everything from the dress and rings to the reception we spent about 15k. We could have spent closer to 13k, maybe less, but we had a lavish food spread.

The one thing I would say with Arrowhead Acres is to just make sure you're on top of the venue agreement. You have to pull permits for food on your own, which isn't hard but it's extra leg work (they gave us all the instructions we needed to do it). The owners don't fuck around and expect you to read and actually follow through on the agreement. They're an older, very no-nonsense couple but they were helpful. Just read your agreement thoroughly and make sure you give yourself time.

edit: Oh, also, if you're looking for rings, we went to Garabedians up on Burncoat. The old man there hammered out a custom wedding band for my wife out of a continuum silver ingot for like 100 bucks because the engagement ring we got had a unique shape and we needed something specific to fit it.

I got married at Salem Cross 8 years ago and it was pretty reasonably priced. Nice location, great food.

Zukas Hilltop Barn, in Spencer, is beautiful for both ceremony and reception. It was cheaper then other, less beautiful options we saw as well.

Maybe a bit more of a traditional place, but Val’s in Holden has a large space and does lots of events there. Val is a dream to work with and their food is great (especially if you like Greek or Mediterranean food). We are hosting my daughter’s christening reception there soon, I think their price per plate was around $35 for us.

I went to Leicester Country Club for a wedding recently (and know the bride pretty well) and for what it looked like, I thought it was a pretty good deal.

Timberyard Brewery, 20 minutes west on Rt9 has a huge event space, in addition to their taproom and beer garden. Great for the reception!

Hartman’s Herb Farm did everything A to Z for 100 people within a great budget, including night before and night of accommodations. The ladies who run it are excellent to work with to create whatever vision you may have.

I've used The Castle in Leicester as a venue, and it was great. That said, they've changed hands and are now https://m.facebook.com/castlecastina/

The previous owners didn't charge a venue fee to use one big room plus the patio, just the cost of food/drinks (admittedly not cheap). No idea what pricing under the new owners looks like, but if they are inviting under 100 people the place itself is wicked awesome.

J Anthony’s in Auburn. The Venue is FREE. You only pay for food/tips. Just got married in July there. Extremely happy with how it came out! Under $3K for 100 guests.

If you’re willing to get married during the off season (Dec-March), pretty much anywhere can become affordable depending on your budget
