Hello!

I’m coming to Worcester from Halifax, Canada to see the GWAR show at the Palladium and will probably have an hour or so to kill-

Are there any record stores, comic book stores or metal shops around the city? Or just cool things to check out in general?

Thanks!

That's Entertainment is THE store for comics, records, video games (including a good retro section, and other pop culture stuff

If you’re interested in Comics/Records That’s Entertainment is the only option. It’s a fantastic shop. BT’s Smokehouse is a five minute walk from there and has some great BBQ as well.

If you’re looking to grab a beer before the show, I’d honestly recommend going over to Ralph’s Diner. They also cook burgers on the grill there. It’s a metalhead’s utopia, so much character and you’ll appreciate it.

If you’re looking for walking distance from the Palladium itself your options are limited. Armsby Abbey is a craft beer centric restaurant closeby if you’re into that sort of thing.

Joe’s Albums literally right next to the Palladium has a way better selection of vinyl than that’s E

Ralphs is legit if you wanna visit a bar.

You could also swing by Worcester public market which doesnt have anything like what you requested (maybe the leather shop?) But is like one of the nice new things we have here.

Not sure what they have in Halifax, but Worcester is known for its great diners. There’s like 10 I could recommend in the area

There’s a record store right by the palladium called Joes, but it honestly sucks. Not the friendliest of people and the prices are a bit ridiculous.

For as much underground music that comes through the area, there’s really not much around it. No good legit record stores or anything like that

Totally disagree. I’ve only ever had pleasant music conversations with the owner and I’ve found some titles there I haven’t been able to find elsewhere. I’m sorry you didn’t have a great experience though.

I love chatting about music with Joe and the other employee and the prices are great. AND they have harder to find punk 7”s ‘n shit. Oh and Bruce Springsteen’s shoes in a glass case lol.

I’m going to the GWAR show tomorrow too. I’m from Worcester and I recommend That’s E if you’re into games and what not.

Ralph’s is a punk/old school metal bar, really cool.

Public Market is cool too but it’s really just food. Seed to stem next to the market sells some interesting things.
