TLDR: It will briefly get very cold next week.

The forecast map I'm sharing is temperatures for next Thursday morning (Feb 23).

In between now and then, we'll get normal February rain over the weekend and continuing into Tuesday. As the cold air heads our way, there's a chance of some snowfall, but don't hold your breath.

Then Wednesday night the thermometer plummets. This shows 12 to 16 degrees for the Seattle area. And is that -4 to -8 in Spokane?

Keep in mind, the forecast is almost 7 days out. The forecast definitely could moderate, but we're still probably looking at temps in the low 20's across much of the west side, and single digits on the east side.

For what it is worth, low 20's is the National Weather Service forecast. This is the University of Washington Forecast. I think the NWS runs a similar model, but their staff seem to often adjust the forecast closer to the normal for a given time of year when we're more than a couple days out.

Either way, it would take a major change in the forecast to not break the record low for February 23 In Seattle (28 degrees), although Spokane stands a chance of keeping its record (2 degrees).

This weekend would be a good time to do any prep you might normally do for cold weather (cover hose bibs and sensitive plants, etc).

I work retail and this just means we'll get squatting homeless people inside our stores for hours on end. Every cold spell we generally end up calling pd to evict a few customers that refuse to leave upon closing doors. Social services have offered them services before but they're mostly drug addicts and bumbs.

How about you go fuck yourself? If you want them dead, kill them yourself.

That's not what they said. Instead of using stores or restaurants as a shelter, they really should be able to use a cold weather shelter (yes I know they are mostly at night but still).

A low wage worker should not be the ones responsibile to kick someone out. But loitering homeless people take up spots used by paying customers and harrass patrons asking for money. Businesses should have the right to refuse service to anyone. It is not their responsibility to provide shelter to people. That falls to the government or a charity.

Patrons also complain about homeless population in their stores and give small businesses a poor review in addition to staying away from them.

That was putting words into that poster's mouth which was perhaps unfair.

How about you offer services, no strings attached! They have been offered services, but refuse to accept the terms and conditions.

My employer screwed me over for a could of been promotion so I ain't coming into work when it snows. F' them. It's not a learning opportunity: it was clearly a screw you burn you scenario. Gotta love favoritism screw the person who's been doing the management duties of the department for the past 4 yrs. I saw my hard work go to crap in less than a week. I'm union so unless we have horrid attendance we can miss a week to snow.

I should probably clarify - although it will be cold, whether or not it snows is highly dependent on whether the precipitation sticks around until the cold arrives.

Don't plan on snow just yet. The forecast currently suggests things it will dry out before it gets cold enough for snow.

Good luck with work either way. I hope you get some time off one way or another.

i never thought anyone would describe last october's awful smoky horror-show as "pleasant" - but i guess here we are already after only four months. people's memories really are short huh??

Last October was no where near as bad as it has been…. Also depends on what part of WA other people are in too.

It was kind of weird because usually Central and Eastern WA have worse smoke but this past year it was way worse in Western WA. I'm in SE WA and we had a bad week of smoke with no major local fires but West side had bad smoke almost a month.

Polar vortex BS, winter really kicked off last December, it might as well end with a bang. Plus last January felt like Fall/early Spring.
