We will go to a Devils game on a Tuesday in March at 7 pm. Thought about spending the afternoon in Newark. What to do in terms of food, art, coffee, sights etc.? Also how much in advance would you go to Prudential center (coming from NYC)?

I would simply ban people who instead of using the search feature believe reddit users are their personal concierge

If I were you, I'd head up towards Newark Museum. Super cool, and can easily kill an hour or two there.
It's across the street from Halsey st, which has a bunch of small restaurants, a coffee shop.
Also across the park is Newark Local Brewery if you want to sneak in a few pints before the game.
Maybe a 15m walk from the brewery to Pru.
Not sure about how long to arrive before a game

Oof. Bummer. Maybe check hours for Gallery Aferro or Project for Empty Space.

Second the Newark Museum. Grab some food at the Yard and a beer at Newark Local before the game. All walkable.
Maybe get in an Uber to visit All Points West or the Cathedral Basilica is you want to get outside downtown and hit up a quick spot.

Check out McGoverns Tavern on New Street. Great spot to grab a bite to eat before a game.

In the ironbound, grab a pasteis de nata at Teixera’a Bakery. Sihana is good for coffee. Both on Ferry Street. Independence Park is nice for people watching and you’ll pass by a lot of the local businesses. Burke’s tavern is a new spot with pretty good food right near the arena.
If you’d rather check out downtown, Military Park is nice and you could check out the Hahne Building. Black Swan Espresso is good for coffee downtown. The building with Newark Local Beer is cool in terms of architecture - art deco. A bit further but not exactly walking distance is Branch Brook Park and the Basilica which is stunning. Enjoy!

Can we just pin a “things to do in Newark” thread to the top of the sub. I can only type Casa de Paco so many times…
