Fishing license is annual however it has rules surrounding which body of water you can fish and when. Normal summer season is March to October. Then it's ice fishing season.

Salt water bodies have an additional license addon thing.

I always hated the additional salt water fee, for years my dad couldn’t afford a fishing license but you never needed one to go mackerel fishing, when they added that provision fishing kinda fell by the wayside for us

It's a federal registry, the state has nothing to do with the $1 salt fee.

It's a two dollar fee. Go scrounge up some quarters from the couch.

I don’t know what part of my comment suggested I couldn’t afford it now as an adult but go off I guess

FFO is Oct-March and covers many rivers and bodies of water. Fly fishing is acceptable on most waters unless explicitly stated. Fly Fishing in the dead of February is some of the best fishing you can get into here in Maine.

I think it’s really funny that you’ve stopped being the “google it” guy and are now the “I googled it” guy

I think it's really funny that if people just typed their Reddit post title into Google instead, they'd have the answer they were looking for without extra steps.

But then they don't get the community discussion about it. At least that was what I was told these people that ask super easy to find information want.

I, for one, only ask something out of desperation. After I've looked on my own and found nothing helpful. (Which is almost never because of Google/search engines, or just ya know calling the business or person directly that has the information I need scary)

Mostly this for me too, usually I’ll try hitting the google before I come to Reddit, but also sometime what I’m looking for is answers, obviously, but also looking just to interact with the community as whole, not just in r/Maine but also every sub, thought that was the entire point of Reddit was interacting in all these communities 🤷‍♂️

Just amend "site:reddit.com" to your Google search query, whatever you're looking for has almost certainly already been discussed.

This is my go-to whenever I want to know what 300 idiots think about the topic I'm researching. 😜

It's much cheekier if you post the url to the Google search results, especially since those URLs are massive
