My spouse and I are doing a scouting trip at the end of April to see if we want to move up from the south. Are there any local areas that y’all recommend we check out? Thanks in advance!

Awesome, thanks!!
The Wadsworth museum in Hartford is great, Parkville market has good food options, there might be a yard goats baseball game in Hartford too. Id also suggest checking out some of the neighboring downtown areas such as Middletown or west Hartford depending on your preference.
Thanks!
Yard Goats games are always a good time, as are Wolfpack games if they’re in town. The museums are great. Check the surrounding towns for a lot of good restaurants. The craft brewery scene in CT is really strong too, if you’re into beers of all kinds, you’ll find them here.
Talcott Mountain!!! A great space to hike!
Eat at City Steam Brewery. Ask for the GM (he’s there but for M&T), tell him his sister sent you, he will treat you very well.
Thank you!! Can’t wait to check it out!
It is also a magnificent building. Three floors, gorgeous architecture.
Noooooo. They are still closed from a bad pipe leak on the main floor two weeks ago.
RealArtWays is an art gallery and cinema; they have Creative Cocktail Hour every third Thursday. If you like cinema there’s also a great theater at Trinity College.
What do you guys like to do? There’s a lot to do but you gave no info.
Sorry, I didn’t even think of that! We’re city peeps currently in Gainesville, FL, so we’re pretty much in a small town. Originally from Orlando so eventually we’ll take trips into NYC, but having never been to CT I wasn’t sure what all is out there. We’re coming with an open mind so I’m looking at all these suggestions and getting excited. Definitely can’t wait to check out the nature and art museums, nature when it warms up a little bit!
The diversity of stuff you can see and do with a three hour drive from Hartford is going to shit on a 3 hour drive from Orlando, let alone everything we have here. Other people have mentioned the museums which are really good. Webster theater gets solid bands. Solid skateboarding. If you have or are planning on kids we have very solid schools.
FYI: Gainesville’s population of 140K is slightly more than Hartford’s of 120K
As others have said, so much to access within 3 hour drive. E.g. Boston is less than 2 hours away from Hartford.
Keep in mind that CT is very town specific. A town could be right next to another but have completely different cultural, racial, and things to do. I’m originally from South Jersey and that’s a big change here. (I love it here!)
Hey! I just joined this Reddit, I also am in Gville thinking of moving to CT 🤣

I'm assuming from your name that you are from Florida. I'm a very happy former Floridian. I have had a great experience so far and have zero regrets. Parkville Market and Elizabeth Park are two of my favorite places to visit in the area. If you are visiting super soon, don't judge the park by all the dead sticks. They are lovely when it's not winter.
I am also someone from Gville Florida moving to CT, any other advice?
Take the kids ice skating , try nomads in south Windsor for the kids and Dave &busters in Manchester

I'd crosspost on r/Connecticut; it's much more active. I'd reccomend the Science Center, West Hartford Center and Elizabeth Park as good starting locations.
