At an Urgent Care in Middletown. Wearing a mask. All patients are required to wear masks. Staff are wearing masks when interacting with patients, but I can see the staff when interacting with just each other and most of them have their masks off their faces then. Seems odd to me, but maybe they all are tested frequently?

I was at the doctor today and they required masks. As an immunocompromised person I really appreciate it when doctors and nurses can at least show respect for those of us who may have to always mask. I should at least feel protected when I get the medical care I am inevitably going to need because of said condition. It’s literally the least anyone could do to mask at the doctor.

Work with me here for a second.

I'd like you to imagine that you work in a place where everyone who walks in the door is sick...

Most non-hospital medical facilities are dropping mandatory masking for both staff and patients within the past month or so, especially if they are focused on something like ortho or GI that has nothing to do with Covid or Covid symptoms. The outpatient facility I work at dropped requirement last week.

With urgent cares, you don’t know what people are coming for and a common thing is for serious flu or Covid symptoms. So likely the UC you were at has masking rules for patients but staff rules have been relaxed. They may not even require staff to be masked while interacting with patients anymore and it’s up to personal preference.

Masking is done. It’s even been proven that they don’t work. My boss is double vaccinated and boosted and got Covid. She wore her mask everywhere. It’s time to move on and get back to normal.
