Need a simple pair of men's sneakers that will last at least 2 years being worn everyday. My current pair have holes in the sole after only 1 year of use, but my previous pair of shoes lasted me almost 4 years of everyday use. Take a look at what these two pairs look like to see what style of shoe I like.

Current pair: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07K8FLYWT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Previous Pair (Can't find them online. Don't think they make them anymore): https://imgur.com/a/0O14Apc

I’m not sure there will be a shoe out there that will last 2 years being worn every day for more than 4-6 hours. Better to get 2 pairs and rotate.

Yeah agreed. No shoe is made to be worn every day. Not to mention the bacteria buildup that happens, it’s not hygienic. Even the most expensive pair of Alden’s needs to be given a break.

Well I mean I've already had a pair that made it that long. I don't see how buying two pairs and rotating them so they last 2 years is any different to having one pair of shoes that lasts a year.

Shoes degrade more quickly when used daily as they don't have time to dry properly and such, thus rotating is good. For example, you can get 2 pairs of shoes that'd normally last a year, but by rotating them you can double their lifespans.

Still got shoes I got 5 years ago which look great besides the slight dirtiness. Those would've broken years ago if I didn't have rotation.

Edit: Forgot to add that you can just go for some reputable brand shoes you like, get 2 pairs of those and switch them up every day (can get different pairs as well). Mostly just focus on comfort

right, its not like you get 1 year out of a pair, but then get 2 years with two by rotating. If you rotate you might get more than 2. Shoes not being able to dry out is a huge reason they fall apart more quickly.

Why are you coming to the internet and asking about shoes that will last 2+ years when you literally posted a photo of shoes you liked and wore for 4 years? Seriously....get another pair of Adidas. Those look like some flavor of Sambas.

I can not find them. I don't think they sell them anymore. Should have made that clear. Forgot to mention it.

Those are adidas gazelles. They are my favorite. I’m wearing an identical pair right now. They sell them online at Zappos.

Edit: also check PoshMark.

Edit again: I looked at the second pic and now I have no idea what those are.

They’re much more “work/outdoorsy” but I recently switched from New Balance to Keen.

They are comfortable and they are very functional…but man are they ugly. I have a pair and my wife saw me wear my hiking shoes and just immediately asked me wtf I was wearing.

I like the fit and feel of Keens but the soles on the last pair I had wore down incredibly fast

Sneakers aren’t really built to last a long time. Maybe look into hiking shoes.

This. Worked a retail/warehouse job where I was on my feet 8-10 hours a day for 2 years. Wore them almost every day not to mention the multiple day backpacking trips I’ve taken them on. Sole still in good condition and I got the vents so they never stay wet for long. You can find them on Amazon far under the msrp regularly. By far the most comfortable boot I’ve ever worn.

I've had my New Balance 574s for about four years now and I don't want to get rid of them cause the soles are still good. They come in a huge amount of color combos.

I've had a pair of Kizik's for a couple years at least and still in good shape. And super easy to put on, which is a big bonus when you're middle aged with back issues.

This complaint feels ridiculous considering hunks of metal regularly get upvoted to the top

Not to mention socks which literally can't be bifl, it's basically just a decent wool sock that you have to pay to ship to replace

For sneakers I really only get the Made In USA or UK New Balance sneakers. And even then, I only get them in wide.

Since all the cool kids wear them now I have to buy a couple pairs at a time.

New balance trail shoes. You can pick them up for around $50 online

You are lucky. I can't make them last very long.

1

zombienudist t1_j815tij wrote

That's because you shouldn't. Running shoes are meant to last anywhere from 300-500 miles when running. After that the cushioning starts to break down. If you don't run in them they will likely last longer but they should still be replaced much more then most do.

You can find a lot of lightly used shoes on eBay, it may be an option to find a pair like your old ones

vkewalra t1_j7znac1 wrote

Go on eBay and get two Greats Royale full leather sneakers. You can get 2 probably new or near new solid construction shoes for about $100. Those two rotated will probably last you longer than 2 years worn daily
