I’m in the market for a new duvet cover and possibly new comforter. I prefer hypoallergenic/non-down in a comforter. In a duvet cover I’m just looking for a natural, non-synthetic soft material. I love flax linen sheets and pillowcases so I’m leaning toward the same for a duvet cover. Also prefer machine-washable preferably for both but definitely for the cover. Any recommendations?

Also, does anyone else think it’s weird that we don’t call duvet covers comforter covers and don’t call comforters duvets?

Love ikea designs and love a deal but I maybe unfairly assumed they used polyester for most or all of their bed linens. Will check it out!

I’m on team white cotton sheets (think nice hotel sheets). The two comforters, duvet covers and pillow cases I have bought and used for a few years now are definitely not polyester-y if that makes sense.

Wool room has a washable wool version of their comforters. High quality and reasonably priced.

Red Land Cotton- my mom got us one of their covers for a wedding gift, absolutely amazing and their sheets are the bomb and feel super cozy. They have a lifetime warranty.

Frankenmuth Woolen Mill- best comforters ever, my wife hates sleeping with anything else. Keeps us the perfect temperature and they last for decades. They have been making them in the same factory for 125+ years. We love their pillows too.

The comforters you can’t machine wash, but no comforter will last if you machine wash it anyway. That’s the nature of them. With wool ones you can let them air out outside to freshen them up and then if accidents do happen the company has a special process to clean them.

I purchased the Piglet in Bed mattress topper and was not impressed with the quality, I contacted them and they did give me a refund when I sent it back, but yeah I was gutted.

Years ago I purchased a silk filled comforter, cotton covered. And a silk duvet cover for it and I absolutely love it! It’s hypoallergenic which is one of the main reasons I was looking into silk specifically, as well as how soft it is and how cool it stays in the summer months! I also really love that silk does a better job at not absorbing oils from our hair and skin.

Just a note that even “washable” wool isn’t going to mean you can do whatever you want and it will specify exactly the types of washers and cycles that it is safe with and you still have to air dry it.

I went with a camel wool comforter here. Mainly due to being washable and cheaper than many other options I looked at. I have an organic cotton duvet cover from I believe Boll & Branch but I could be mistaken on that. I also got their organic cotton sheet set and pillow covers.

My only complaint is I don’t love the whole duvet + duvet insert deal. Mine does have ties on all four corners and they work but I think it they should make it with 6 or 8 ties instead (I had a weighted blanked that was like this and was great) and I also would rather have a zip up duvet cover like the ones from AllergyCare or The Company Store instead of just button up however the former one apparently doesn’t have any ties inside at all and I am unsure about the latter as a reviewer said it didn’t but an FAQ said it did and neither of them offer colors which sucks because I have little interest in white or unbleached cotton colored bedding.
