I love your choice of background flourishings, such as the subtle orange spots next the girls head. Also the highlights that you added to the newts eyes are absolutely beautiful, really brings the character out. I 100% agree with the other comments and hope you do pursue illustration.

I imagine it's much more difficult to illustrate others' ideas, but if you find the right ideas....
