As an avid climber, I love everything about this, except for how he's tied in, that makes me uncomfy haha
kbergstr t1_iwf4ew9 wrote
My concern was the lack of rope at the belay…

Looks like an autobelay.
Behappyalright t1_iwfgyl0 wrote
Yeah climbers always check this sort of thing on art and commercials and movies. You never see things the same after you know.

What about the fact that he's posing for a photo while hanging on a sloper!??

Kid clearly has mad open-hand grip strength!

To echo what everyone else is saying, fantastic work with the perspective, DOF, and lighting. It all combines to give the image a ton of personality.

Wow I loved this foreshortening and the color work
jackliquidcourage t1_iwdl672 wrote
terrible form. all the weight on his fingers and the hold is rounded so he cant even get a good grip. that said, the lighting looks really good. as if the place is lit entirely by natural light flooding in from the windows.
trwwyco t1_iwe2iub wrote
Can't see where feet are sitting but the position makes me think all the weight is on the feet rn.
jackliquidcourage t1_iwejazl wrote
Nah. When climbing, the closer you keep your body to the wall the more of your weight is on your feet. If your legs are curled up like this, it should only be too steep up to the next hold. Hanging on like this only drains stamina and you wouldn't turn around in this position because you'd most likely fall.

Simular issue with the person in the back middle, frogging their way up. A little hip movement would do them wonders.

Loading up for a badass dyno move. You’ll be impressed

Uh you don't sound like a climber.

If you say so

Plenty of interesting art on this sub, but this piece has something much less common: PERSONALITY. Great work!
