Cars are the biggest barrier to improved public transit. We could have dedicated alignments for all of our high frequency buses if there wasn't parking or car traffic in the way.

There are plenty of examples in the US and globally that make it work just fine with comparable transit systems and populations.

50% of traffic in the region is non-recurring aka roadworks and crashes. If crashes have been reduced because of cameras it will definitely have helped with traffic jams.

Try doing it in a wheelchair and I think you'll see the difference between having that cut through as access or trying to navigate to the intersections drivers are complaining are too far to drive and too dangerous to cross.

It's simply not safe as a shared street in present condition.
